Job Summary:

Within established guidelines, performs various functions associated with the fabrication of contact lenses using appropriate machines and equipment. These operations are of a repetitive nature and require training within the scope of an approved SOP. Works in a team manufacturing environment receiving direction from the Production Coordinators and/or Technicians. Demonstrates qualities which show an interest and competency level for future advancement. Experienced level position allowing the employee to become familiar with the advanced, quality critical stages of manufacturing contact lenses.

This position is eligible for a 15% shift differential

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exhibits good communication skills - verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language.
  • Demonstrates the potential to lead a team as well as the desire for personal and professional continuous improvement.
  • Excellent understanding of and compliance with all SOP's, regulatory requirements, and cGMP's.
  • Requires full understanding of Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and the consequences of not following them.
  • Required to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follows appropriate safety and equipment maintenance procedures.

Work Environment:

            Experience:

            • Manufacturing experience preferred.
            • Experience with medical device manufacturing and/or packaging in an FDA compliant or similar regulated environment preferred.

            Education:

            • High School diploma or GED required.
            • Associates degree preferred.

            For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $20.00 and $23.00 per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.

            • Once fully trained, the Production Operator 2 is required to perform any number of the processes required of the Production Operator 1.
            • Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of work areas using 5S procedures, as well as helping to train other operators on 5S.
            • May operate specialized equipment necessary for specific product groups (e.g., toric generator lathing and more sophisticated metrology equipment).
            • When the required, actively participates on Lean and Six Sigma teams.
            • When required, assists coordinator and/or technicians in managing workflow.
            • Demonstrates the capacity and desire to participate on and lead teams.
            • As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.
            • Performs other duties as needed/assigned.
