Overview
The FWPO III (Fulfillment Winder Production Operator) plays a critical role in ensuring that all processes are performed according to established standards while winding a mandrel. This position is essential to maintaining the quality of the module, meeting critical process requirements, and maximizing overall production output. Responsibilities
- Fully understand and execute wet-out box operations according to operational work instructions.
- Assist in troubleshooting the Filament Winding Process as needed.
- Perform wet-out box, front bar assembly, and rear roving comb changes weekly or as required.
- Conduct wet-out box "stringing" of rovings.
- Perform tension tests after every wet-out box change.
- Maintain and care for winding room tools and equipment throughout the shift.
- Ensure winding room cleanliness and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
- Inspect and evaluate modules during each wind cycle to ensure quality and process standards are met, addressing any defects.
- Prepare the winding room for the next production shift.
- Support Quality Assurance by performing required Cup Tests at the start of each shift.
- Adhere to all QC alerts, process changes, and procedural updates.
- Follow all safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Report equipment issues promptly to the Production Supervisor.
- Maintain proper inventory of materials necessary for production tasks.
- Assist Engineering with research, trials, development, and selection of new processes or equipment to improve production efficiency.
- Help train and cross-train production team members.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comply with all company safety rules, as well as provincial and federal regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including cross-training in other production roles.
Training / Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.
Working Conditions
- Industrial production environment.
- Exposure to hot and humid areas within the plant.
- Physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Required use of PPE such as respirators, chemical suits, and gloves.
- Frequent interaction with heavy machinery and moving equipment.
- Limited handling of chemicals within the production area.
