Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Painter to join our team in Roseville, CA. This role is responsible for preparing, priming, and applying high-performance coatings to plastic components—especially cast polyurethane materials—while ensuring high-quality finishes and strong adhesion. The ideal candidate has experience with automotive or industrial coating systems and is comfortable working in a controlled spray booth environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Surface Preparation
- Thoroughly clean plastic components using soap and water or approved water-based plastic cleaners to remove mold release agents and contaminants
- Perform light sanding and surface abrasion using appropriate abrasive pads (e.g., gray scuff pads) to promote mechanical adhesion
- Conduct final cleaning using alcohol-based antistatic cleaners to eliminate residual oils and static buildup
2. Priming and Adhesion
- Apply plastic adhesion promoters in light, even coats according to manufacturer specifications
- Monitor proper flash-off times (typically 15–20 minutes) before further coating
- Select and apply appropriate primers based on substrate type (rigid vs. flexible plastics)
3. Coating Application
- Mix and apply two-component (2K) acrylic urethane coatings (hydroxyl polymer and isocyanate systems)
- Operate HVLP (High-Volume Low-Pressure) spray equipment to achieve Class-A, high-gloss finishes
- Ensure consistent film build, color match, and surface quality
4. Curing and Finishing
- Cure coated parts using air-dry or low-temperature oven methods based on material specifications
- Inspect finished parts for defects, adhesion quality, and visual standards
- Perform touch-ups or rework as needed
5. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company protocols when handling coatings and chemicals
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Ensure spray booth and equipment are maintained and operating efficiently
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in industrial, automotive, or production painting
- Experience with plastic substrates and adhesion systems preferred
- Knowledge of HVLP spray systems and 2K coating materials
- Ability to read and follow technical data sheets and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Comfortable working in a paint booth environment with proper PPE
