The Fountain Group is Hiring a Production Planner for a Prominent Manufacturing Client!

Location: Carlsbad, CA (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: $35.00–$40.00 per hour
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Conversion)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

The Fountain Group is seeking an experienced Production Planner to join a prominent manufacturing client in Carlsbad, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional with strong production planning experience who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can immediately contribute using SAP and MRP systems.

Position Overview

As a Production Planner, you will support manufacturing operations by developing production plans, balancing supply and demand, maintaining planning parameters, and analyzing production data to ensure material availability and on-time delivery. This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and experience working within ERP/MRP systems.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking candidates who:

  • Have a strong production planning background (not procurement or warehouse focused)
  • Can quickly step into a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Have experience using SAP and MRP systems
  • Are highly analytical and comfortable working with production scheduling data
  • Excel at cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, purchasing, warehouse, and supply chain teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production plans to support customer demand and manufacturing schedules
  • Monitor and maintain MRP planning parameters, including safety stock, reorder points, lead times, and lot sizes
  • Analyze production, inventory, and supply chain data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Generate reports and dashboards to support planning and operations
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, warehouse, and supply chain teams to resolve material and capacity constraints
  • Support root cause analysis for shortages, late orders, and planning exceptions
  • Maintain ERP planning master data and ensure data accuracy
  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization and data analysis
  • Monitor forecasts and adjust production capacity as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (STEM or Supply Chain Management preferred)
  • 3+ years of supply chain experience with a primary focus on production planning
  • Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, advanced formulas, and data analysis
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP experience (S/4HANA or ECC) with PP, MM, or Supply Chain modules strongly preferred
  • APICS CPIM Certification
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry
  • SQL experience
  • MBA
