Position Summary

The Planner II – Production Planning is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed production schedules that align with demand forecasts, material availability, and capacity constraints. This role ensures efficient use of manufacturing resources, on-time delivery of products, and optimal inventory levels. The Planner II serves as a key liaison between production, purchasing, engineering, and logistics teams to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities


+ Develop and manage short- and mid-range production schedules to meet customer demand and inventory targets.

+ Translate demand forecasts and sales orders into executable production plans, considering capacity, labor, and material constraints.

+ Monitor and adjust schedules based on changes in demand, material availability, equipment downtime, or other production factors.

+ Collaborate with procurement and materials management to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.

+ Review work orders and ensure accurate data entry in ERP/MRP systems.

+ Analyze production performance metrics (e.g., schedule adherence, lead time, capacity utilization) and recommend improvements.

+ Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to support product launches, engineering changes, and process improvements.

+ Maintain accurate planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock levels) in planning systems.

+ Identify and communicate potential production bottlenecks or risks and propose mitigation plans.

+ Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving throughput, and enhancing planning accuracy.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:


+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR 2–4 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or materials management in a manufacturing environment.

+ Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar) required.

+ APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


+ Strong understanding of production planning principles, capacity management, and material flow.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

+ Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments.

+ Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

+ Commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.


Working Conditions


+ Primarily office-based with regular interaction with the production floor.

+ May require occasional extended hours during peak production or product launch periods.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
