Production Planner

Summary

EZ Form Cable is seeking a Production Planner to join our team in Hamden, CT. The Production Planner schedules, establishes priorities, and coordinates the flow of work and materials within the cable assembly department according to daily and weekly production schedules. This role serves as a key link between Production and Purchasing, helping ensure accurate material status and supplier information is available to support production and customer delivery requirements. The Production Planner will monitor open backlogs, MRP action reports, supplier deliveries, and material availability; follow up on ETAs and delays; and coordinate with internal teams to ensure production and customer delivery requirements are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Production Manager to monitor production schedules and priorities based on customer demand, capacity, material availability, and supplier delivery information.
• Serve as a key link between Production and Purchasing by monitoring material availability, supplier deliveries, and component shortages.
• Work closely with Purchasing and vendors to resolve shortages, expedite materials, and ensure material requirements support production schedules.
• Interact regularly with production floor management to resolve issues and achieve daily production requirements.
• Analyze and prepare documents (work instructions, travelers, etc.) needed for production.
• Drive to achieve established targets for revenue and on-time delivery.
• Maintain a detailed understanding of assigned backlog, production status, and material availability to identify potential impacts to production and customer delivery.
• Update scheduled commit dates in the ERP system based on current material availability, production status, and supplier delivery information, communicating relevant changes to the Sales team.
• Assess feasibility of expedite requests and coordinate with the appropriate teams to provide timely status updates.
• Perform data analysis and assist with production forecasting to provide information and recommendations supporting raw material supply, finished goods demand, and production planning.
• Assist the Production Manager with the production schedule and other reports as required.
• Follow up with internal teams to expedite the flow of materials and documentation needed to meet production schedules and customer expectations.
• Serve as an additional set of eyes for the Production Manager by maintaining visibility into daily production activity and identifying potential production, material, and scheduling issues before they impact production or customer delivery.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum 3 years'''' experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency using ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft Office products; strong computer skills.
• High sense of urgency and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems
• Ability to manage time and priorities appropriately
• Comfortable working in a role that requires regular interaction with both the production floor and office-based teams.
