Position Summary

We are seeking a Production Planner / Scheduler to support our manufacturing operations and help ensure production goals, customer commitments, and project deadlines are met.

The Production Planner / Scheduler coordinates production schedules, materials, capacity, and project priorities across multiple departments. This position works closely with Production, Procurement, Receiving, Sales, and Management to identify potential scheduling or material constraints, communicate critical deadlines, and keep capital equipment projects moving efficiently through production.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and able to balance changing priorities while maintaining accurate production information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, maintain, and distribute production, work, and shipment schedules.
  • Maintain capital order dates and related production information in SAP.
  • Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Receiving, Sales, and other departments regarding project schedules, capacity, demand, critical milestones, and deadlines.
  • Monitor the progress of production activities and communicate with department supervisors regarding work status and expected completion dates.
  • Lead Capital Equipment production meetings and communicate project progress, production priorities, scheduling concerns, and delivery requirements.
  • Identify potential production or scheduling problems and assist appropriate departments with developing solutions.
  • Prioritize sales orders to support production efficiency and customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor production capacity and provide Management with planning information regarding capacity and workforce needs.
  • Maintain reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning, schedule attainment, and project management.
  • Monitor the flow of materials and documentation needed to support production schedules and customer expectations.
  • Work with Procurement regarding supplier performance, including cost, quality, material availability, and on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with Receiving to confirm required materials and supplies have been received.
  • Monitor outstanding purchase orders and assist with identifying or tracing delayed materials that may affect production.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of material management, production planning, and inventory-control processes.
  • Use SAP, Microsoft Office, and other company systems to enter, maintain, analyze, and retrieve production-related information.
  • Assist other departments with production-planning activities as needed.
  • Follow company safety requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of business conduct.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, production-planning, scheduling, materials, supply-chain, or similar environment.
  • Experience using SAP or a comparable ERP/manufacturing system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage changing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with appropriate direction and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling/project-management software.
  • Production planning, supply-chain, materials-management, or related certification.
  • Experience supporting capital equipment or project-based manufacturing.
  • Experience coordinating production schedules, materials, capacity, and customer delivery requirements.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, onsite position. Some flexibility in scheduling may be available; however, the employee must be available during established core business hours and as necessary to meet operational and production requirements.

Travel

Regular travel is not required for this position.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and regularly interacts with employees and operations within a manufacturing environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when entering designated production or manufacturing areas.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements described below represent those generally required to perform the essential functions of this position.

The employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or balance.

The position may require visual abilities necessary to perform job duties, including close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color differentiation when job-related, and the ability to adjust focus.
