A Day in the Life:
The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring production activities throughout the complete manufacturing cycle. This role develops and maintains production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, labor availability, and material supply to support operational and business objectives. Working cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, sales, marketing, and supply chain teams, the Production Planner / Scheduler ensures the timely availability of materials, efficient production flow, and reliable customer delivery performance. This position also supports issue resolution related to material shortages, design changes, production constraints, and schedule interruptions while balancing inventory levels and production capacity.
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor products throughout the complete production cycle
Develop and maintain production schedules that support the Master Production Plan (MPP)
Take proactive action to resolve conflicts or constraints that may impact achievement of production plans
Works from engineering plans and production specifications to establish production schedules, labor loading, and capacity requirements
Coordinate production plans to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, engineering, sales, marketing, and customer service teams to support operational objectives
Resolve production interruptions related to labor shortages, material shortages, design changes, backlogs, or capacity constraints
Coordinate daily with manufacturing and raw material planning teams to manage schedule deviations and production changes
Support production ramp-up and ramp-down planning activities
Monitor key planning metrics and recommend process improvements to enhance schedule attainment and operational performance
Keys to Success:
Education
Minimum Education Required: Associate’s Degree
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
APICS Certification Preferred
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification Preferred
Experience
Minimum of 4 years of related planning, scheduling, manufacturing, or supply chain experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Working knowledge of production planning, scheduling, inventory management, and supply chain operations
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and planning functionality strongly preferred, including SAP ECC, EWM, and APO
Experience in Kinaxis and Power BI preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
