    Overview

    We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Production Planner/Scheduler to join our dynamic team in Wyoming, IL. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our production processes run smoothly and efficiently.     Position Summary

    The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing work orders and coordinating the production schedule within a machine-shop environment. This position works closely with the Shop Foreman, production departments, and Quality Department to prioritize work, monitor demand, and help ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time. The position maintains current and accurate scheduling information in the company’s MRP system and adjusts priorities as production needs change.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Create, release, and maintain manufacturing work orders based on customer demand and production requirements.
    • Work closely with the Shop Foreman to prioritize jobs and place work orders into the production schedule.
    • Develop, maintain, and adjust daily, weekly, and longer-term production schedules through the company’s MRP system.
    • Track work orders from release through completion and follow up on jobs that may affect customer delivery dates.
    • Coordinate with production and quality personnel to move work through the manufacturing process and complete demand.
    • Monitor production progress and revise schedules when priorities change or when delays occur due to equipment downtime, material availability, capacity, quality concerns, or other production needs.
    • Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, and due-date concerns to the appropriate supervisors and departments.
    • Maintain accurate work-order, routing, quantity, due-date, and scheduling information within the MRP system.
    • Review production demand, available capacity, and current workload to support an efficient flow of work throughout the shop.
    • Identify potential scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, or overdue work and communicate concerns promptly.
    • Work with Quality to address inspection requirements, nonconforming material, and other quality-related issues that may affect production flow or completion dates.
    • Assist with production status updates and reports as requested.
    • Follow company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Understanding of production planning, work orders, routings, and manufacturing workflow.
    • Experience using an ERP or MRP system to create work orders and maintain production schedules.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple jobs with changing deadlines and production needs.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate system information.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, production employees, Quality, and office personnel.
    • Ability to identify scheduling problems, gather the necessary information, and follow through until concerns are resolved.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
    • Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with multiple departments.

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Previous experience in production scheduling, production planning, manufacturing coordination, or a related role preferred.
    • Machine-shop or precision-manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Previous experience working with ERP/MRP software strongly preferred.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in both an office setting and an active manufacturing environment.
    • The position requires regular communication and movement between office and production areas.
    • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and use a computer, keyboard, and other standard office equipment.
    • Must be able to follow all required safety practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when entering production areas.
