Help Create Custom Products That Support Scientific Research

\n

\n

PM Sewing is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Ellsworth, Maine. Since 2005, we have produced custom textile covers and related products for biomedical research facilities, universities, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and laboratories across the country.

\n

\n

Each product we make is created to meet a customer’s specific measurements and operational needs. Our work requires precision, consistency, problem-solving, and pride in craftsmanship.

\n

\n

We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Production Sewing Technician to join our small manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys making tangible products, working independently, and seeing a project through from start to finish.

\n

\n

Prior industrial sewing experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who has strong sewing skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.

\n

\n

What You’ll Do

\n

\n

As a Production Sewing Technician, you will help manufacture custom-made textile products from customer specifications, patterns, and measurements.

\n

\n

Responsibilities include:

\n
  • \n
  • Operate industrial sewing machines safely and accurately
  • \n
  • Operate a computer-guided, multi‑head embroidery machine to stitch logos with precision
  • \n
  • Sew custom covers, bags, and other textile products
  • \n
  • Measure, mark, cut, assemble, and finish materials
  • \n
  • Follow patterns, written instructions, and customer specifications
  • \n
  • Install zippers, Velcro, reinforcement materials, and other components
  • \n
  • Inspect completed products for accuracy, durability, and overall quality
  • \n
  • Identify and correct sewing or construction issues
  • \n
  • Organize materials and maintain a clean production workspace
  • \n
  • Work with teammates to complete orders accurately and on schedule
  • \n
  • Assist with packaging, order preparation, and other production needs when necessary
  • \n
\n

\n

Because many of our products are custom-made, this role involves more than repeating the same task throughout the day. You will work on products of different sizes, shapes, and specifications and help solve construction challenges as they arise.

\n

\n

What We're Looking For

\n

\n

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Dependable with a strong work ethic
  • \n
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • \n
  • Able to follow written instructions and measurements accurately
  • \n
  • Ability to stay organized while managing multiple orders
  • \n
  • Ability to lift and move materials or finished products weighing up to approximately 30 pounds
  • \n
\n

\n

No industrial experience? We'll train you. Experience using a sewing machine is required.

\n

\n

Preferred Experience

\n

\n

Experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful but not required:

Applicants with home sewing, quilting, costume-making, alteration, upholstery, or other relevant hands-on experience are also encouraged to apply.

\n
