About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and people-focused Production Shift Leader to lead a high-performing production team at our Roxboro, NC manufacturing facility. In this role, you will drive safety, operational excellence, employee engagement, and continuous improvement while helping ensure daily production goals are met. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys developing people, and can effectively communicate and collaborate across departments to deliver strong results. You will play a key role in creating a positive culture, solving complex challenges, and helping team members achieve their full potential.

Key Areas of Focus & Core Responsibilities

Safety Leadership

• Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with plant safety requirements.
• Monitor safe work practices and ensure team members complete required safety training.
• Participate in risk assessments and support proper reporting of incidents or potential concerns.
• Serve as a primary safety contact during off-shift hours when plant management is not onsite.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performance production team.
• Support employee growth through regular coaching, performance feedback, and clear development objectives.
• Manage electronic time sheets, scheduling, vacation coverage, and coverage for absences.
• Partner with HR and plant leadership on employee relations and disciplinary matters.
• Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, collaboration, and accountability across the team.

Production & Operational Excellence

• Drive daily operation plans aligned with plant goals, objectives, KPIs, and World Class Manufacturing standards.
• Support troubleshooting efforts and identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes.
• Assist and direct employees during normal operations and upset conditions to maintain efficient production flow.
• Ensure production reporting, production accounting, autonomous maintenance, housekeeping, and quality control requirements are completed accurately.

Communication & Collaboration

• Lead daily shift meetings and participate in plant staff meetings to communicate priorities and activities.
• Serve as a key communication link between shifts, engineering teams, EHS, quality, production, and plant management.
• Escalate critical safety, quality, and production concerns promptly to support corrective action.
• Collaborate across departments to drive plant goals and business results.

Candidate Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing, industrial, or technical experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership, coaching, teaching, supervisory, or team-development experience; or 4 years of military experience.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and production processes.
• Experience with timekeeping, payroll systems, production reporting, data analysis, and autonomous maintenance programs.
• Strong communication, organizational, coaching, management, and team-building skills.
• Valid drivers license

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field.
• Manufacturing certifications such as Problem Solving, 5S, Leadership, or related certifications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work 12.5 hour rotating shifts (days/nights)
• Frequent standing and walking throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Frequent sitting and use of computers or production systems.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for reporting, documentation, and system navigation.
• Constant visual attention, reading, writing, speaking, and hearing.
• Rare/occasional climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds at low frequency.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes.
• Frequent exposure to moving equipment, large machinery, and production processes.
• Required use of safety equipment and/or protective clothing.
• Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, dust, fumes, dirt, chemicals, gases, smoke, and poor lighting conditions.
• Rare exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, hazardous materials, jarring, and vibrations.
• Occasional travel, less than 5% per year, may be required for job-related training.
