Requirements:

Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.

Office hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Not eligible for Telework.

The person in this position will need to work outside of standard business hours, travel frequently, work in challenging weather conditions, and perform physically demanding activities associated with the transportation, setup, operation, and breakdown of audio-visual and digital media equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year (1) employment of audiovisual and digital media communications experience, or completion of a program of study from a vocational/technical school, or community college.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications: Two or more years of employment in audiovisual and digital media communications experience, or completion of an associate's degree from an accredited college with a major in visual communication, motion picture art, or digital media studies.

Position Overview:

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Office of Communications is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve on the Multimedia Services Team, who provides audiovisual and digital media communications expertise to help further the agency's mission. The Office of Communications coordinates the public communication efforts of FWC's divisions and offices, and coordinates activities to educate Floridians and visitors on the role and value of Floridas fish and wildlife resources.

The FWC has an atmosphere of people who are passionate about what they do and have a strong desire to help residents and visitors of Florida while balancing the needs of the state's fish and wildlife resources. The successful candidate for the Public Information Specialist position will be proactive and passionate about the agency's success and the public's perception of the agency.

This position reports to the Multimedia Services Manager for the Office of Communications and will work closely with the Communications Director and the Multimedia Services Team.

Work at the FWC is cross-functional meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The Commission expects employees to function across FWCs organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary functions for this position include but are not limited to the following:

• Collaborates with the multimedia services team, and other agency staff to produce and edit digital media such as videos, photographs, PowerPoint presentations, web images, advertisements, memes/gifs, animations, and other communications tools.
• Audiovisual Technician for FWC commission meetings, public outreach events and internal events, with a concentration on audio.
• Assists with planning and scheduling video and photo shoots.
• Assists with equipment maintenance.
• Manages purchasing card transactions in a timely manner, adhering to state purchasing policies and requirements.
• Manages daily administrative duties such as email, calendar management, and communication with staff.
• Actively garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida's citizens in a positive and proactive manner.
• Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Professional Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Final Cut Pro.
• Experience in videography and photography using a wide range of camera equipment.
• Experience with Audiovisual equipment set-up and operation, including audio systems, video switchers, projectors, and studio lighting.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong critical thinking, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time.
• Professional experience using Microsoft 365 apps including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
• Ability to listen effectively, understand and evaluate information/data.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and complete work assignments and projects according to established deadlines.
• Ability to quickly and effectively prioritize and process information and requests from external and internal sources.
• Ability to positively communicate and build relationships with a variety of professionals including staff and vendors.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
