    Description

    Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Production Specialist, Operations located in Carlsbad, New Mexico through August 19th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time)

    Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

    • Coach, mentor, and develop Field Specialists, trainees, contractors, and new hires.

    • Coordinate onboarding programs and field integration for new personnel.

    • Conduct learning assessments, facilitate demonstrations, and support competency gap closure activities.

    • Partner with Learning & Development (L&D) to ensure workforce compliance with required training programs, including CMS and LMS requirements.

    • Coordinate and support vendor-led training opportunities.

    • Provide operational support and backfill coverage during staffing constraints and critical business needs.

    • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new equipment installations and facility upgrades and ensure personnel receive appropriate training.

    • Participate in impact shutdown planning and execution activities.

    • Conduct a minimum of three-monthly ride-alongs with Field Specialists to observe work practices, identify improvement opportunities, and reinforce operational standards.

    • Train and mentor personnel on Chevron operational systems and digital tools, including Prometheus Mobile, SAP, Exception Capture (EC), Petrasoft, Mobile Operator, Procedure Hub, and EIP.

    • Conduct field safety engagements and observations to reinforce safe work practices and operational discipline.

    • Support and assist with demonstration approvals and workforce competency validations.

    • Partner with HSE personnel to support emergency response drills, Control of Work (COW) exercises, and Operational Excellence presentations.

    • Support development, maintenance, redlining, and continuous improvement of EIPs and the EIP digital platform.

    • Participate in and support Root Cause Analyses (RCA) when required.

    • Support Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), permit reviews, and hazard assessments associated with high-risk work activities.

    • Develop and deliver training materials, job aids, and field resources supporting Operational Front Line Maintenance (OFLM) expectations and process safety initiatives.

    • Support continuous improvement of HSE-related digital tools and operational workflows.

    • Train personnel on spill reporting processes and validate reporting accuracy and compliance.

    • Partner with HSE and field teams to promote site cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and proper waste disposal practices.

    • Support Operational Excellence initiatives and improvement projects as assigned.

    • Monitor equipment rental utilization and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and cost management.

    • Identify and support opportunities for operational optimization and process improvement.

    • Serve as the single point of contact for Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Critical Operating Procedure (COP) review, validation, and coordination efforts.

    • Support winter weather readiness activities, including equipment preparation and operational contingency planning.

    • Provide support for facility design improvements, artificial lift system enhancements, troubleshooting efforts, and operational reliability initiatives.

    • Participate in core business meetings, including: Start of Shift (SOS) Meetings Tactical Work Coordination Meetings, Production Support Team Meetings, Optimization Meetings, & Quarterly Area Operational Excellence Meetings

    • Support additional cross-functional engagements and projects as business needs require.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Three (3) or more years of upstream oil and gas production operations experience.

    • Demonstrated understanding of production operations, facility processes, field troubleshooting, and operational workflows.

    • Experience coaching, mentoring, or training field personnel.

    • Working knowledge of Chevron Operational Excellence (OE) principles, Start Work Discipline, and Control of Work processes.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees, contractors, field leadership, and support organizations.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and operational software systems.

    • Ability to travel within the operating area and perform regular field visits.

    • Ability to work safely in field environments and meet all physical requirements for site access.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent military experience in a technical, engineering, business, or related discipline that provides knowledge and skills transferable to production operations.

    • Five (5) years of upstream production operations experience.

    • Previous experience as a Field Specialist, Lead Operator, Production Specialist, Operations Coordinator, or similar operational leadership role.

    • Strong knowledge of Prometheus Mobile, SAP, Energy Components (EC), Petrasoft, Mobile Operator, Procedure Hub, and EIP tools.

    • Experience developing and delivering technical training programs, job aids, and competency assessments.

    • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), PSSR processes, and risk assessment methodologies.

    • Experience supporting Operational Excellence, continuous improvement, and workforce capability development initiatives.

    • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, develop, and influence others while fostering a strong One Team culture.

    • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional efforts and drive operational improvement across multiple teams and disciplines.
