Our client, a leading Tier I automotive manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift to lead assembly operations and drive performance across safety, quality, and delivery. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys coaching teams, solving problems on the floor, and continuously improving processes. You'll be responsible for aligning daily production goals with broader operational objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.  This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive base salary and a generous vacation package.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and prioritize daily activities for 2nd shift assembly teams to meet production targets
  • Ensure a safe work environment by proactively addressing hazards and enforcing safety policies
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing and priorities to meet customer demands
  • Control labor allocation and manage workforce planning, including overtime and vacation scheduling
  • Track and manage team performance, attendance, and daily output metrics
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, lead incident investigations, and promote 5S initiatives
  • Facilitate team meetings and communicate performance goals and expectations clearly
  • Analyze production reports (daily/weekly/monthly) and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accuracy of timekeeping systems (Workday/ADP) and approve records weekly
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives using data analysis tools and standardized work practices
  • Perform audits (system, process, and part quality) to ensure compliance with standards
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to team members
  • Support weekend operations as needed, ensuring full adherence to production and quality standards
  • Complete end-of-shift reporting, including scrap tracking and production summaries
  • Serve as first responder to production issues and coordinate resolution with support teams


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as an Assembly Team Coordinator or equivalent supervisory role in manufacturing
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to motivate and manage performance
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Solid understanding of production scheduling and manufacturing operations
  • Experience with ERP systems (BAAN preferred) and basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and strong attendance record
  • Ability to lead meetings and clearly communicate team goals and performance metrics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in automotive manufacturing (Tier I environment strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, 5S, etc.)
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams or initiatives
  • Exposure to standardized work and system assurance audits
  • Completion (or willingness to complete within 6 months) required internal training programs
