Job Summary
The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising production employees in a manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions on designated shift.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure compliance/reporting requirements in GMP, Food Safety & Food Quality, SOP’s, HACCP, and Human Safety programs through the training, development, performance management and coaching of shift team members
Provides a strong floor presence and understanding of the processes adequate to set the example for others to follow
Handles day-to-day production documentation, ensures its accuracy and timely input into reporting systems
Provides training to shift personnel to make sure all employees have the tools necessary for optimum performance.
Champions all safety initiatives within the facility to ensure all safety goals and objectives are met, maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
Instruct and train employees in safety, ensure duties are performed in accordance with safety regulations, while leading by example ensuring own actions are performed in accordance with safety regulations.
Follow coaching/corrective action procedures if employees engage in any unsafe acts
Ensures that all products produced meet or exceed customer specifications.
Handles routine issues with regards to employee relations
Conduct daily start of shift meetings to discuss safety topics, quality concerns, etc.
Must help maintain production equipment in good working condition (daily, weekly and monthly PM’s).
Ensures the production schedule is maintained with proper level of staffing.
Must help reduce the amount of scrap waste within the facility.
Help maintain scheduling of production to meet customer needs and maintain the lowest possible labor/overtime costs.
Help schedule and maintain appropriate manning level to meet the shifts production requirements.
Review and calculate employee timecards weekly.
Prepare daily production reports.

Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
A demonstrated ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions in the English and/or Spanish language.
5 years previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Must be able to multi task, work independently, and have strong demonstrated leadership capabilities
Demonstrated experience of being engaged at the floor level and “hands on” approach
Preferred Candidate Qualifications:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor’s degree is preferred
Experience in the plastics industry a plus
Knowledge in SQF, GMP, HACCP, FSMA, plant production systems, sanitation, plant safety, quality systems and regulations.
