Production Supervisor – Aluminum Operations

Position Summary
We are seeking a Production Supervisor – Aluminum Operations to lead a team of approximately 15–20 production employees within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position supports aluminum melting operations responsible for supplying molten aluminum to die-cast production equipment.
The Production Supervisor will provide hands-on leadership throughout the shift, assign manpower, coordinate production activities, monitor timekeeping, enforce safety and contractual work rules, and work closely with maintenance and other departments to keep operations running safely and efficiently.
This position is ideal for a manufacturing leader who is comfortable working in a demanding production environment, can manage multiple priorities, and isn't afraid to get involved when problems need to be solved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise approximately 15–20 production employees within aluminum melting operations.
- Assign manpower and daily work responsibilities based on production requirements, employee availability, vacations, and call-ins.
- Conduct shift kickoff meetings to communicate assignments, production priorities, safety concerns, and operational requirements.
- Participate in pre-shift turnover meetings with the previous shift's leadership to review outstanding tasks, safety concerns, and production status.
- Oversee furnace charging and aluminum melting operations to ensure appropriate material levels are maintained to support production.
- Coordinate the delivery of molten aluminum to die-cast production operations.
- Partner with maintenance personnel to address equipment issues and maintain production uptime.
- Work cross-functionally with production departments, fleet personnel, maintenance, and other plant teams.
- Track and update employee timekeeping information.
- Enforce workplace safety requirements, contractual work rules, and established operating procedures.
- Maintain a safe, productive, and engaged work environment.
- Monitor production activities and respond quickly to changing priorities or operational problems.
- Identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate appropriate solutions.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, communication, and employee engagement throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. GED candidates will be considered with strong relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and departments.
- Willingness to take initiative and actively resolve production and personnel issues.
- Ability and willingness to work required overtime, including weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working around molten aluminum, aluminum melting, foundry, casting, or die-cast operations.
- Previous leadership experience within a high-volume automotive or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Military leadership experience or other experience leading teams in structured, safety-focused environments.

Schedule & Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in Bedford, Indiana and will support either 2nd or 3rd shift. There are no rotating shifts.
Shift Hours:
- 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM – 7:30 AM
2nd shift is the priority for this opening.
Approximately 8 hours of overtime per week should be expected. Overtime will primarily occur on weekends, including approximately every other weekend. Candidates must be comfortable working regular overtime; this position is not intended to be limited to a 40-hour workweek.
Opportunity

The Bedford operation melts approximately 200,000 pounds of metal per shift, and its die-casting and aluminum operations support components that touch approximately 70% of the company's vehicles.
