About the role



1st Shift Operations Supervisor


Location Kerry – Bethlehem, PA


Reports To Operations Manager


Schedule 500 AM – 130 PM (flexibility required)


Position Summary


Step into a role where your leadership sets the tone for the entire day. As the 1st Shift Operations Supervisor, you are the driving force behind a safe, efficient, and high performing production floor. You’ll lead a talented team across roasting, grinding, extraction, RO, blending, and filling — ensuring every process runs smoothly, every standard is met, and every employee feels supported and accountable.


This is a hands on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast paced environments, takes pride in operational excellence, and believes that a clean, organized, and disciplined workplace is the foundation of great results. You’ll be the first leader on site each day, shaping the culture, setting expectations, and ensuring the team starts strong and finishes stronger.


You will also play a critical role in cross functional communication, partnering daily with Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to ensure the entire site is aligned, informed, and working toward a common goal. Your leadership will help break down silos, strengthen teamwork, and ensure issues are addressed quickly and collaboratively.

• Lead, coach, and motivate the first shift production team to hit daily goals with consistency and pride.


• Hold team members accountable to safety, quality, housekeeping, and performance expectations — every shift, every task.


• Build a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and respect.


• Address performance issues promptly and fairly while developing employees for long term success.


• Operational Excellence


• Oversee production activities to ensure KPIs, quality standards, and throughput targets are met.


• Troubleshoot issues quickly and communicate root causes to leadership and incoming shifts.


• Maintain accurate documentation, batch records, and shift handover reports.


• Ensure the production floor remains clean, organized, and audit ready at all times.


• Cross Functional Collaboration


• Partner closely with Safety to reinforce safe behaviors, eliminate hazards, and drive proactive risk reduction.


• Work with Quality to ensure compliance, resolve deviations, and uphold product integrity.


• Coordinate with Supply Chain to maintain material flow, reduce downtime, and support schedule adherence.


• Collaborate with Maintenance to identify equipment issues early, support PM schedules, and minimize unplanned downtime.


• Ensure all departments are aligned, communicating effectively, and working toward shared site goals.


• Safety, Cleanliness & Compliance


• Champion a safety first mindset — no shortcuts, no exceptions.


• Enforce SOPs, GMPs, and regulatory requirements with consistency and confidence.


• Drive continuous improvement in safety, housekeeping, and process reliability.


• Systems & Reporting


• Use SAP to track production, manage inventory, and maintain accurate data.


• Monitor and communicate shift performance metrics and improvement opportunities.


• Flexibility & Support


• Attend trainings, meetings, and cross functional sessions as needed.


• Provide coverage during shift transitions or staffing gaps to keep operations running smoothly.








Qualifications and skills



Qualifications


• Experience supervising teams in manufacturing or food production.


• Strong leadership presence with a focus on accountability and team development.


• Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.


• Excellent communication, problem solving, and decision making skills.


• Commitment to safety, quality, and maintaining a clean, efficient workplace.


• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

The typical hiring range for this role is $63,100 - $106,000 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
