Production Supervisor Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily shop-floor operations for switchgear manufacturing, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met. This role provides direct supervision to production employees while coordinating with engineering, quality, and supply chain to support efficient, on-time build of electrical power and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities for switchgear and electrical equipment manufacturing • Lead, coach, and develop production employees, including onboarding, training, and performance feedback • Enforce safety policies and promote a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency standards • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve build issues, nonconformances, and process improvements • Monitor labor utilization, workflow, and material availability to minimize downtime • Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities, goals, and expectations • Maintain accurate production records, labor reporting, and work order documentation • Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, lean manufacturing, process optimization) • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and electrical manufacturing standards
Minimum Requirements
• None • Minimum Years of Experience: 2-4 • Specific Qualifications Required: • High school diploma or GED required • Technical degree or trade school preferred • 3+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment • Experience in electrical equipment, switchgear, control panels, or similar industrial manufacturing preferred • Strong understanding of shop-floor operations, scheduling, and workforce management • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and production documentation • Solid leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills • Proficiency with basic computer systems (ERP/MRP, labor tracking, email)
