Job description:

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations during assigned shifts to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. This role provides leadership and direction to production employees while coordinating daily operations, resolving production issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in compliance with company procedures and IATF 16949 standards.Overall responsibility for the supervision of the manufacturing and shipping/receiving operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Production Leadership

  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to production employees on assigned shift.
  • Assign work tasks and monitor employee performance to ensure accuracy, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Ensure employees have the necessary tools, materials, and resources to perform their duties.
  • Promote a safe work environment and enforce company safety policies and procedures.

Operational Management

  • Monitor production processes to ensure productivity, quality, and efficiency targets are achieved.
  • Identify and resolve production, personnel, and technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and engineering departments to address equipment or process concerns.
  • Assist in scheduling and workforce planning to support production requirements.

Employee Development

  • Ensure employees receive proper training to perform assigned duties safely and effectively.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the production team.
  • Support disciplinary actions, performance management, and employee coaching as required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support and participate in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with new product launches, process changes, and production trials.
  • Lead and maintain 5S workplace organization standards.

Compliance

  • Ensure operations comply with IATF 16949 quality standards and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and reports as required.

Additional Duties

  • Lead or participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required to support production operations.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degrees in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in plastic injection molding or automotive manufacturing is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of plastic injection molding equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment, moving machinery, and varying noise levels typical of a plastics injection molding facility. Work may occur in areas without full climate control, where temperatures can fluctuate depending on seasonal conditions and production processes. Employees are required to follow all workplace safety policies and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
