Job Description:

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production activities within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational efficiencies are achieved while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Essential Function & Key Responsibilities:

 

Production Oversight

  • Supervise daily manufacturing operations and production employees.
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, and machine utilization to maximize productivity.
  • Coordinate with scheduling, maintenance, quality, and warehouse departments to support production goals.
  • Identify and resolve production issues in a timely manner.

Employee Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop production team members.
  • Conduct employee training on safety, quality, and work instructions.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee evaluations.
  • Enforce disciplinary actions per company policy

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on equipment and procedures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and manufacturing standards.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor production processes for defects, scrap, and rework reduction opportunities.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Verify standardized work instructions are followed consistently.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and material flow.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Assist in implementing process improvements and standardization efforts.

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate production goals, expectations, and performance metrics to employees.
  • Coordinate shift handoffs and provide updates to management.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation.

Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

  • Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs with maintenance.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and equipment downtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous manufacturing or production leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety practices.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computer systems and production reporting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
