What you'll do:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations while ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer commitments are consistently achieved. This role oversees production associates, coordinates workflow, drives operational efficiency, and fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor works closely with operations, scheduling, inventory, and quality teams to optimize production performance and support the successful manufacture of building products. Depending on the business unit, this role may oversee door manufacturing, millwork, truss production, wall panel assembly, or other manufacturing operations.

Production Leadership & Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time manufacturing
  • Assign work, balance workloads, and adjust staffing to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments
  • Monitor productivity, throughput, and operational performance to achieve daily production goals
  • Lead by example by providing hands-on support when operational demands require
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve workflow and efficiency

Team Leadership & Employee Development

  • Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop production team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Promote cross-training initiatives to improve operational flexibility and employee development
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment
  • Address employee performance concerns in partnership with Human Resources when appropriate

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure products meet company quality standards and customer specifications throughout the manufacturing process
  • Conduct quality inspections and verify workmanship before products move to the next stage of production
  • Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture throughout the production department
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and PPE requirements
  • Conduct routine safety observations and reinforce safe operating procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas using 5S and other lean manufacturing principles
  • Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary

Production Planning & Inventory Support

  • Coordinate with scheduling, purchasing, warehouse, and inventory teams to ensure materials are available for production
  • Monitor material usage and communicate shortages before production interruptions occur
  • Support inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and material control initiatives
  • Ensure production documentation is completed accurately and maintained appropriately

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve production processes, workflow, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including waste reduction, standardized work, and continuous improvement
  • Participate in production planning meetings and operational improvement projects
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement action plans to improve department performance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Minimum 3-5 years of manufacturing, construction, millwork, door, truss, wall panel, or related production experience
  • Previous leadership, lead associate, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, continuous improvement, and waste reduction
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, production equipment, and manufacturing systems
  • Experience interpreting production drawings, work orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus
  • Work is performed primarily in manufacturing and production environments
  • Frequent exposure to machinery, moving equipment, dust, noise, vibration, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds; heavier items require team lifting or mechanical assistance
  • Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and production equipment
  • May require overtime, weekend work, or schedule flexibility based on production demands
