Schedule: Monday through Friday, must be available for Saturdays and overtime as needed

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for a short-term assignment supporting a fast-paced milk production facility in Tempe, AZ. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven food manufacturing leader who can step into an established operation, take ownership of the shift, and keep production running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
 
Food manufacturing experience is required, and candidates with dairy or milk processing experience are strongly preferred.
 
The pay range is $32.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience. Candidates considered at the top of the range should bring exceptional, directly relevant production leadership experience, ideally within dairy or a closely related food manufacturing environment.
 
What You'll Be Doing
As the Production Supervisor, you will oversee daily milk processing operations and lead production associates to meet safety, quality, productivity, and operational objectives.
 
Production Leadership

• Oversee daily production activities and ensure production schedules are achieved
• Lead, supervise, coach, and support production associates
• Direct work activities within a diverse, unionized workforce
• Provide constructive performance feedback and corrective action when appropriate
• Train new associates and provide ongoing employee development

 
Food Safety & Quality

• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, GMP
• Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards throughout production
• Train employees on quality standards and ensure procedures are consistently followed
• Identify and resolve issues that could impact product quality
• Maintain compliance with applicable FDA, USDA, HACCP, OSHA, EPA, and food safety requirements

 
Production & Process Improvement

• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities to increase efficiency
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve processes and reduce waste
• Implement scalable process improvements
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Coordinate equipment maintenance to minimize production downtime

 
Inventory & Documentation

• Track, manage, and audit raw materials and finished goods inventory
• Partner with supply chain teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels
• Maintain accurate production records and operational documentation
• Prepare reports covering production performance and key metrics

 
Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other departments
• Communicate operational updates, issues, and priorities clearly and professionally
• Help ensure production remains aligned across departments and shifts

 
What You Need to Bring

• High school diploma or GED required, degree preferred
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in a food production environment
• Food manufacturing experience is required
• Dairy, milk processing, or similar production experience is strongly preferred
• 1+ year of experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles
• Strong production leadership and people-management skills
• Experience directing and developing a diverse workforce, preferably within a union environment
• Knowledge of GMP, food safety, quality, and production standards
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to quickly learn additional business and production applications
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to work the 4:00 AM start time
• Must be flexible to work Saturdays and overtime as production demands require

 
Compensation
$32.00 to $40.00 per hour
Compensation will be based on the depth and relevance of the candidate's experience. Candidates submitted at the higher end of the range should have a particularly strong background in food manufacturing production supervision, dairy operations, Lean Manufacturing, and workforce leadership.
