Job Description:

 

Compensation: $66,800.00 to $111,400.00

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,800-$11,400 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Position Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of high-quality products. The Production Supervisor will lead a team of production personnel, monitor production processes, resolve issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive a safety-first culture while optimizing productivity and overall output of the site. The Production Supervisor will ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of teamwork and operational excellence. 

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Salaried supervisors are expected to be on premises for the entirety of their shift. If there is a situation in which they need to leave the premises, it should be with the approval of the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Plan and schedule production activities based on customer requirements, equipment availability, and resource allocation
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as maintenance, quality, and logistics, to ensure smooth production flow and adherence to production schedules
  • Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency
  • Lead a team of production personnel, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their safety, productivity, engagement, and professional growth
  • Manage and maintain timekeeping system, ensuring accurate recording of employee attendance, hours work and leave requests.
  • Conduct performance reviews, providing constructive feedback, setting goals, and identifying areas of improvement
  • Administer corrective actions in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality procedures and standards throughout the production process
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and audits to ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality requirements
  • Address any quality issues or non-conformities, implementing corrective actions and preventive measures to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Continuously analyze production processes and systems to identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings (ex. new technologies, equipment upgrades, or automation to enhance productivity and quality).
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to optimize production flow, minimize waste, and improve overall efficiency (5S, RCA, Problem Solving, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe work environment for all employees including progressive discipline issuance when required
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks
  • Investigate and report on any safety incidents or near misses, implementing preventive measures to prevent future occurrences
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and activities like one-on-one employee discussions, audits, JSA development, safety training, etc. to drive safety ownership and accountability throughout site
  • Maintain accurate production records, including production reports, downtime logs, and other relevant documentation
  • Prepare and present production reports to management, highlighting key performance metrics, areas of improvement, and action plans
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and other stakeholders to develop and monitor production budgets and cost control measures

Candidate Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a 24/7/365 manufacturing environment preferred and/or bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years’ experience in a production supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality procedures
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with ability to motivate and develop a diverse production team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, compliance actions, and best practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks to meet production goals
  • Knowledge of production management software and systems
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, TEAMS, Outlook (email) and other systems necessary to be effective in role
