Production Supervisor
OVERVIEW
The Production Supervisor owns daily execution on the manufacturing floor: managing shift operations, leading production teams, hitting output and quality targets, and driving accountability across every build. This role is the frontline leadership backbone of the production organization, connecting Engineering, Quality, and Planning to ensure that Moonshot’s switchboards, control panels, and power distribution equipment are built safely, on time, and to spec. You’ll run the floor, develop your team, and remove the barriers that slow production down.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Shift & Schedule Management: Own daily production scheduling and shift execution. Ensure build priorities are clearly communicated at shift start, manage labor allocation across workstations, and adjust plans in real time as priorities shift.
- Team Leadership & Development: Directly supervise production assemblers and technicians. Own hiring, onboarding, training, performance reviews, and corrective action. Build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement on the floor.
- Quality & Process Adherence: Ensure all builds follow approved work instructions, routing, and quality standards. Own first-pass yield and rework metrics for your shift. Enforce inspection gates and escalate deviations to Quality and Manufacturing Engineering promptly.
- Production Output & KPIs: Own daily output targets, on-time delivery, and production efficiency for your area. Track and report on KPIs including units completed, downtime, rework rates, and labor utilization. Drive short-interval control to keep the floor on pace.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment and enforce all safety policies and procedures. Lead daily safety observations, near-miss reporting, and corrective actions. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company EHS requirements.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Coordinate daily with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Materials to resolve production blockers. Communicate shift performance, open issues, and handoff notes clearly between shifts and to leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline preferred.
- 3–5 years of production supervision experience in a manufacturing environment, directly managing hourly teams.
- Experience in electrical, electromechanical, or panel/switchgear manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage shift schedules, labor allocation, and daily production targets in a build-to-order or custom manufacturing setting.
- Practical Lean manufacturing application on the floor (5S, visual management, standard work, daily accountability boards).
- Strong people leadership skills: hiring, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and production tracking tools. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with UL standards (UL508A, UL67, UL891) or other regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.
