Production Supervisor – Night Shift

Job Description

We are currently looking for a day shift Production Supervisor to add to our team. The Production Supervisor provides direct, hands-on leadership of production operations during assigned shifts. This role is accountable for safe, compliant, and effective execution of the production plan, as well as for employee performance, behavior, and adherence to standard work. Success in this role requires a strong floor presence, high personal credibility, disciplined execution, and the ability to set and enforce clear expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Execution

  • Execute the approved production schedule to meet volume, quality, and delivery commitments.
  • Actively monitor line performance, downtime, yield, and constraints; take immediate corrective action to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate effectively with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering, and Supply Chain during shift events.
  • Ensure accurate production reporting and disciplined shift handoffs.
  • Escalate production risks, delays, or abnormal conditions promptly and with data

Safety & Compliance

  • Lead with a visible, uncompromising safety-first mindset.
  • Enforce all safety policies, permits, lockout/tagout, confined space, and PPE requirements without exception.
  • Conduct routine safety observations, participate in audits, and lead or support incident investigations and follow-ups.
  • Exercise stop work authority and immediately escalate unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, site-specific EH&S requirements, and internal standards.
  • Ensure completion, accuracy, and timeliness of all required EH&S documentation.

People Leadership & Accountability

  • Provide direct supervision for hourly production employees on assigned shifts.
  • Set clear expectations for attendance, performance, conduct, housekeeping, and teamwork.
  • Hold employees accountable through timely coaching, documentation, and progressive discipline as required.
  • Support onboarding, skills training, cross-training, and qualification of employees.
  • Identify performance gaps and behavioral issues early and take decisive action.
  • Escalate staffing, capability, or conduct concerns to management with clear recommendations.

Quality & Process Discipline

  • Ensure products are manufactured strictly in accordance with approved specifications, batch records, and SOPs.
  • Reinforce “right-first-time” execution, documentation accuracy, and procedural compliance.
  • Partner with Quality on deviations, nonconformances, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Prevent recurrence of quality issues through disciplined execution and employee reinforcement.

Standard Work & Continous Improvement

  • Enforce adherence to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Identify gaps in procedures, training effectiveness, or execution discipline and escalate recommendations for improvement.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, yield, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Model and reinforce a culture of ownership, professionalism, and accountability on the shop floor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, batch processing, or hazardous materials environments.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), and permit-based work systems.
  • Prior experience participating in audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

Leadership & Behavioral Expectations:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead from the floor, maintain a strong shop-floor presence, and engage employees in real time.
  • Track record of holding employees accountable through coaching, documentation, and progressive discipline when required.
  • Comfortable addressing performance, safety, and behavioral issues promptly and directly.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.

Technical & Personal Skills:

  • Proficient with basic manufacturing systems (production reporting tools or SAP).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • High personal integrity, reliability, and respect for procedure and compliance.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required to support operations.

Work Schedule & Shift Coverage

This position is a shift-based supervisory role supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations. Production Supervisors are required to provide consistent frontline leadership during all operating hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.

  • Weekday Shifts:
  • Monday through Thursday evenings
  • 10 hour shifts aligned with production schedules

You'll run the show on night shift, keeping production on schedule, quality tight, and your team performing at their best. That means jumping in when something's off, coordinating fast with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering, and making sure every shift ends with clean handoffs and accurate records.

You're the Right Fit If You...

  • Lead from the floor, not from your office
  • Don't hesitate to address safety, performance, or behavior issues head-on
  • Know how to coach someone up — and document when you need to
  • Thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Have experience in chemical, batch, or hazardous materials settings (big plus)
  • Are comfortable with PSM, MOC, lockout/tagout, and permit systems

What We Care About Most

Safety isn't a checkbox here — it's the culture. You'll enforce it without exception, lead investigations, and exercise stop work authority when needed. You'll also champion quality and continuous improvement, holding the team accountable to SOPs and pushing for better every day.
