Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the company’s production and bagging operations. This position provides day-to-day leadership to production employees, coordinates production activities, monitors inventory, ensures equipment is properly maintained, and assists with operating production and material-handling equipment as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Management

·         Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production and bagging activities to meet production schedules and customer requirements.

·         Monitor production output, product quality, equipment performance, and downtime.

·         Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation.

·         Monitor production efficiency and recommend improvements to reduce downtime, waste, and operating costs.

Employee Supervision

·         Supervise, train, and provide direction to production and bagging employees.

·         Train employees in proper production procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, and quality standards.

·         Conduct or assist with employee coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when appropriate.

Inventory Management

·         Monitor raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, and production supplies.

·         Coordinate material movement to ensure production lines have the necessary materials and supplies.

Preventative Maintenance & Equipment

·         Oversee and perform routine preventative maintenance on production and bagging equipment.

·         Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify wear, damage, leaks, or other potential problems.

Safety & Compliance

·         Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

·         Conduct or participate in routine safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions.

·         Immediately address or report hazards, equipment defects, spills, and other unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

Required

·         Previous supervisory experience in production, manufacturing, agriculture, material handling, or a similar industrial environment.

·         Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.

·         Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

·         Ability to work independently while effectively managing and directing a production team.

·         Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

Preferred

·         Experience supervising a bagging or packaging line.

·         Experience with inventory control systems or production management software.

·         Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and production/inventory systems.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to work in an industrial production environment and may require:

·         Standing and walking for extended periods.

·         Bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, and working around production equipment.

·         Working around dust, noise, moving machinery, outdoor conditions, and varying temperatures.

·         Wearing required PPE, including safety footwear, eye protection, hearing protection, or other equipment as required by the job and applicable safety requirements.

·         Operating or working around mobile equipment, forklifts, conveyors, bagging equipment, and other industrial machinery.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in a production warehouse, and an agricultural processing environment. The position may require working indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to dust, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of an agricultural production facility.
