Production Supervisor

 

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

 

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Production Supervisor you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Supporting production and/or hourly employees in their day-to-day activities, potentially on a rotating shift basis
  • Monitoring production rates, yields, and quality of products daily and provide feedback to employees on results
  • Ensuring a safe working environment through formal inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures, and equipment
  • Evaluating employee performance and utilizing corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors
  • Applying working knowledge and interpretation of corporate and plant policies and procedures
  • Handling shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, employee training, etc.

 

Your Skills and Expertise  
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma/ GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Advanced supervisory experience, particularly in a chemical manufacturing plant environment
  • Practical mechanical aptitude for resolving process and product issues
  • Experience in affecting change through continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma), working towards cost reduction, quality improvements, and safer work environments
  • Ability to adjust communication styles, especially to facilitate relaying messages and changes to production employee
