    The Production Supervisor works weekends when student or class productions are scheduled and weekdays when coverage is needed for staff vacancies. You would be part of a small group of freelancers that could be scheduled as needed and available.
    The facility is dedicated to helping to fulfill the School of Film, cinematography, and production curriculum, through classes and student productions. The Soundstage team provides students and faculty equipment, training, and assistance to develop the skills needed to create cinematic stories in a soundstage environment.

    The Paramount Film Soundstage is part of the Technologies and Production department (MTP). Your department sits within the Production Facilities, key areas where students learn the real-life skills of the communications industry.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

    • The Production Supervisor is responsible for general oversight of the Paramount Film Soundstage during their shifts. They are particularly focused on maintaining a safe and inviting environment for students, staff, and faculty.
    • Oversee and guide a team of two or three student staff while ensuring a high quality of user services. 
    • Assist, support, and troubleshoot student and faculty use of the Paramount Soundstage lighting, grip, audio, and camera equipment.
    • Train faculty, students, and classes in the Paramount Film Soundstage equipment and safe production procedures.
    • Assist student productions in problem-solving a wide range of potential issues with cameras, rigging lights, and building sets.
    • Ensure that the use of the space conforms to Emerson's rules and regulations.
    • Maintain careful oversight over the safety of people and equipment.
    • Communicate equipment repairs and installations with the Manager.
    • Perform base-level maintenance and repairs.

    QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Video/Television/Film Production, Broadcast preferred
    • 5-7 years of film production, live event supervision and crew management required
    • Stage operations experience preferred

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – This may be representative but not all-inclusive of the knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job. 

    • Understanding of Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro CC, or DaVinci Resolve
    • Digital Cameras: Canon C300, Canon C70, Sony FS5
    • Film Cameras: Arri SR1, Aaton LTR
    • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
    • Knowledge of professional film production procedures.
    • A basic understanding of film and digital cameras, LED, Tungsten, and HMI lighting units, grip, and audio equipment. 
    • General knowledge of video/computer equipment
    • Maintenance/repair skills
    • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

    This is a temporary position for a small group of freelancers who are available on an as-needed basis to work weekends, when student or class productions are scheduled, or on weekdays when coverage is needed for staff vacancies.

    Work Location

    This position requires an in-person presence on the Boston Campus during assigned work hours.

    Hours

    The facility is open from 7:30 am - 11 pm. Over weekends, when there are production, shifts can vary depending on the needs of production. Typical shifts during the week, when coverage is needed, would be 7:30 am - 3:30 pm or 3 pm to 11 pm. Hours are scheduled as required per project.

    Salary for this position ranges from $25-30/hr, commensurate with experience.
