Job Details

Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating production operations on an assigned shift to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacture of high-quality products. This individual will supervise production personnel, monitor key performance metrics, promote continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production employees on assigned shift.
  • Ensure all safety policies, OSHA requirements, and plant procedures are followed.
  • Drive production to achieve daily throughput, quality, scrap, and efficiency goals.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing to meet customer demand.
  • Lead shift startup meetings and communicate daily production priorities.
  • Partner with Maintenance to coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment changeovers.
  • Ensure production equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor quality standards and ensure compliance with GMP, customer specifications, and internal quality systems.
  • Investigate quality issues and production downtime using root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and labor tracking.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve OEE, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate hourly team members.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready production environment.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Planning to ensure smooth plant operations.

Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading hourly production employees.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing safety practices.
  • Experience with production scheduling and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights or weekends when required.

Preferred
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, blow molding, injection molding, packaging, food manufacturing, or other high-speed manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience with KPI reporting including:

o OEE
o Scrap reduction
o Downtime analysis
o Labor efficiency
o Safety metrics
