About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations with a strong focus on the Weld Department (MIG, TIG, and robotic welding). Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are consistently met while driving continuous improvement across the shop floor.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting engineered components for commercial building systems.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Workflow Management
- Supervise daily production activities across welding and downstream operations
- Ensure schedules are met across weld booths, robotic cells, and assembly workflows
- Balance labor, workflow, and priorities to eliminate bottlenecks
- Track and report KPIs including output, efficiency, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve production issues
Weld Department Leadership
- Oversee MIG, TIG, and robotic welding operations and cell performance
- Support weld quality initiatives and collaborate with Quality and CWI personnel
- Improve arc-on time, reduce rework, and optimize weld cell utilization
- Assist in troubleshooting weld processes and implementing corrective actions
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to AWS, ASME, ISO, and internal quality standards
- Support first-article inspections and in-process quality checks
- Lead corrective actions for non-conformances and documentation accuracy
Safety Leadership
- Enforce OSHA and company safety standards in all welding operations
- Ensure proper PPE usage, ventilation, and fume control compliance
- Conduct safety meetings and proactively address hazards
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, train, and coach welders and production staff
- Manage scheduling, attendance, overtime, and workforce planning
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee development
- Foster a culture of accountability and teamwork
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, waste reduction, workflow optimization)
- Monitor KPIs to improve productivity and reduce scrap
- Support cross-training and workforce flexibility initiatives
- Recommend process and equipment improvements
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience with strong welding exposure
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a production environment
- Strong working knowledge of MIG, TIG, and robotic welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or trade school background
- Experience in high-mix or high-volume fabrication/manufacturing
- Familiarity with WPS/PQR documentation
- ERP systems and production reporting experience

Physical Requirements
