Production Systems Engineer — Battery Modules & Packs
Are you the engineer who...
Designs assembly processes end-to-end and makes them safer, faster, and more repeatable?
Translates engineering intent into clear, visual standard work the line can trust?
Runs toward line-launch chaos, stabilizes bottlenecks, and drives CAPA to closure?
Thinks in takt-time, yield, and error-proofing—and knows how to move each metric?
What you will own
Process Development
Develop and document complete manufacturing flows for battery module and pack assembly
Define process sequence, work content, and station design to meet quality, throughput/takt, and safety/ergonomic goals
Standard Work & Training
Create and maintain work instructions, visual aids, and standard work
Ensure alignment to engineering drawings/BOMs, revisions, and approved changes
Train operators and supervisors on new or updated processes
Tools, Fixtures, and Equipment
Specify, install, commission, and support assembly tooling, test/inspection systems, and material handling aids
Validate equipment and sustain documented settings
Launch, Ramp, and Line Support
Support line launch, volume ramp-up, and new product/variant introductions
First responder to process issues, bottlenecks, and downtime; implement corrective actions
Quality & Control
Define in-process checks, error-proofing (poka-yoke), and capability/control plans
Partner with Quality on root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Change & NPI
Evaluate manufacturability impacts of engineering changes; update processes/work instructions
Support NPI by preparing production processes, participating in pilot builds, and ensuring a smooth engineering-to-production transition
Continuous Improvement
Deliver gains in yield, cycle time, labor efficiency, and scrap/rework reduction
Apply lean manufacturing to improve flow and productivity
Safety & Ergonomics
Ensure compliance with EHS requirements and safe work practices
Identify and mitigate ergonomic and safety risks across assembly and material handling
Documentation & Metrics
Maintain accurate process definitions, equipment settings, and change histories
Track and report process metrics to inform operations decisions
Where you fit in the org
Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Works with: Production Supervisors and Operators; Product Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal); Product Integration; Quality; EHS
Focus: Process design, line support, continuous improvement
How you’ll spend your time
On the floor supporting operations and troubleshooting equipment/process issues
Refreshing work instructions and documentation as changes are released
Joining kaizen/improvement events
Helping balance the line and adjust staffing
Coordinating with engineering and quality partners
Your deliverables
Process flows/layouts
Standard work and instructions
Specifications for equipment/tooling
Documented improvement plans and results
Inputs to production readiness and launch reviews
Decision space
Empowered to define and improve manufacturing processes
No authority over product design
Expected to rapidly escalate safety, quality, or capacity risks
Scoreboard
Stable, repeatable processes
Improved first-pass yield and fewer defects
Throughput meeting or beating takt
Reduced downtime and rework
Smooth NPI transitions
Why it matters
In battery manufacturing, small process errors can scale into big problems. Early instability kills margins. Strong processes protect quality and safety. This role ensures our operation is engineered—not improvised—building predictable growth and customer confidence.
