About the Role

Jaia's Production Technician will validate, troubleshoot, service, and repair aquatic drone systems. You must understand electrical and electronic systems, sensor and feedback principles, and how robots communicate and work as machines. You will work closely with both the Product Development and the teams to facilitate verification and validation of new features and vehicle performance.

You will manage repairs throughout their lifecycle - keeping the Customer Success team informed during intake, repair, and return. The role will include fieldwork with the JaiaBot Platform. You will be assisting in designing a plan for field tests, running acceptance tests for , and for customer demonstrations. You must be willing to travel to work with customers on maintenance and repairs.

The Production Technician reports to the Manager and is responsible for the maintenance of Jaia's internal fleets and as such is responsible for keeping accurate records for each vehicle.

Role Responsibilities

Testing and Quality Assurance

• Conduct functional and performance tests on Jabots and all associated parts of the JaiaBot system.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to mechanical, electrical, or software defects.
• Ensure all products meet quality standards, documenting test results.

Repair and Maintenance

• Perform regular maintenance on internal JaiaBot systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems including but not limited to JaiaBots and JaiaBot control systems.
• Use tools such as soldering irons, drills, torque wrenches, and precision instruments to repair JaiaBots as well as test fixtures and associated parts.
• Use computers and software including, but not limited to, Windows, Ubuntu Linux, CLI, SSH, VPNs.
• Configure networking equipment such as client devices and routers.
• Follow detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and instructions to ensure proper assembly.
• Travel to customer locations to perform scheduled system maintenance and repairs.

Collaborate with Product Development Team

• Collaborate during prototyping phases to develop efficient testing processes.
• Provide feedback to design and engineering teams on reliability and performance issues.

Assist the Team

• As needed, assist with configurations and assembly of JaiaBots.
• Provide feedback to team on manufacturability and reliability.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain detailed logs of procedures, tests, inspections, and repairs including material usage and time spent.
• Work with the other teams to update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for processes.
• Keep timely records of internal assets (JaiaBots) to keep the Product Development, Business Development, and Customer Success teams informed.

Adherence to Safety Standards

• Ensure a safe working environment by following OSHA regulations and company protocols.
• Identify and report safety hazards during testing and repairs.

This position provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative setting, requiring individuals to take a proactive, detail-oriented approach to tackle real world challenges and improve the JaiaBot's performance and reliability.

Capabilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to operate in a team environment and to clearly explain problems and potential solutions.

Demonstrated track record of effective troubleshooting and resolving issues.
