Job Summary:

Operate different types of packaging machinery at varying stages of the production line with an unwavering commitment to optimizing production for customer service, while following all SOP's and WI's. Efficient and has the ability to prioritize tasks while multi-tasking. This role aims to support the Maintenance and Engineering department with identifying faults with packaging machinery. Implementing fixes where possible and supporting Engineers and activities when a higher level of knowledge or experience is needed.

Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, labelers, ect.
  • Experience interacting with machine interfaces, gauges, dials, and or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Experience with basic course work in mathematics, PC and business understanding or equivalent training and/or experience required. Basic computer skills necessary for packaging software required. Ability and dexterity to handle small items.
  • Ideally 2 years' experience in Packaging department
  • Proactively identify improvements to include yield reduction and communicate ways in which improvements can be made, in line with procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills for support and effective interaction across departments
  • Must be detailed orientated

Work Environment:

  • Physically demanding and will involve standing for a significant proportion of the shift.
  • The role involves working primarily in noisy, dusty, and hot or humid warehouse conditions, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical equipment. Employees must frequently stand, walk, use hand and finger coordination, grasp and pinch, and maintain strong hand-eye coordination. The position also requires bending, stooping, and occasional twisting, with lifting up to 20 pounds required regularly. There is no expected exposure to wet conditions, chemicals, solvents, vehicles, or heavy lifting above 50 pounds.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $19.30 and $22.57 per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.

  • Operating machinery safely in accordance with all company procedures and work instructions
  • Starting/stopping machinery, basic machine faults resolution
  • Performing printed data and quality inspection
  • Responsible to perform first level maintenance tasks and fault resolution
  • Provide comprehensive fault information when escalating issues to maintenance/engineers
  • Responsible to assist with new machinery builds, validations and where applicable training for new processes/machines to ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs)
  • Actively participant in machine change overs with maintenance and ensuring all settings correspond to change over sheets/parameters
  • Understands the machine dials, scanner locations and functionality to both
  • Knowledge with equipment verbiage
  • Assists maintenance with diagnosis of any equipment issues
  • Performs routine maintenance checks on packaging machine to ensure it is completely functional, accurate specs to product run and safe to operate
  • Properly clears machinery jams with product integrity inspection of the product
  • Basic troubleshooting of equipment problems in a timely manner to avoid any downtime
  • Knowledge to rehome the rotary for both blisters and cartons to ensure proper placement
  • Report malfunctions or errors to supervising staff immediately and relay pertinent information to expedite resolution of issue
  • SME (subject matter expert) for equipment to assist with machine upgrades or enhancements
  • Consistently attains daily production OEE output
  • Responsible to ensure product accuracy
  • Operates under tight deadlines in order to ensure production deliverables are achieved
  • Interface with GPSII (Packaging Software) and Redzone (Machine OEE Solftware)
  • Follow production schedule to the assigned sequence
  • Understand and maintain cycle time standards
  • Provides input to leadership on process improvements and areas for scrap reduction
  • Participation for testing and machine/process validations when requested - to include areas for improvement
  • Maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work area to include cleaning of all scanners from dust to maintain proper working order
  • Follows all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Consistently checks the output of the machine and identifies any related issues
  • Understands and applies quality product standards
  • Understands, acknowledges and follows all SOP's and WI's
  • Understands and follows department safety policies
  • Maintains a positive attitude and consistently demonstrates company values
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Works scheduled holidays in order to maintain customer service levels
  • Works scheduled hours and is ready to work at designated start times
  • As business needs dictates, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks - to include mandatory Saturdays
  • Immediately informs coordinator/supervisor of any safety, sanitation and equipment malfunctions
  • Seeks assistance from coordinator/supervisor in identifying and reporting problems, concerns relating to job function
  • Adapts readily to changes in workload, priorities, staffing and scheduling
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures
  • Exhibits good communication skills - verbal, written and comprehension of the English language
  • As business needs dictates, works extended hours to complete daily Packaging requirements
  • As business dictates, employee may spend 100% of the day performing one particular task or may spend 50% of the day performing 1 task and the other 50% performing a second task
