Amazon Leo is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and weve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers - from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Amazon Leo is seeking a Test Lab Engineer to join the Space Simulation Test Lab (SSL) supporting satellite production on a Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM schedule. In this role, you will support high-throughput environmental testing of satellite sub-assemblies, with a primary focus on structural dynamic testing, such as random vibration, sine vibration, and acoustic tests, in a high traceability production environment.

You will work closely with the Dynamics Engineering team and lab operations to sustain and improve current production test processes while also supporting the development, validation, and deployment of new test methodologies as Leo continues to scale manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong fundamental understanding of vibration testing principles, particularly vibration reliability testing, along with experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrodynamic shaker systems, control systems, and associated test instrumentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment where test reliability, hardware safety, and execution discipline are critical to mission success.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support high-throughput vibration testing of satellite sub-assemblies using electrodynamic shaker systems, with emphasis on vibration testing in a high-traceability production environment.
  • Partner with Dynamics Engineering and lab operations to sustain and improve production test processes, ensuring tests are executed safely, repeatably, and in compliance with established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with shaker systems, controllers, amplifiers, fixturing, and instrumentation to minimize downtime and maintain production test throughput.
  • Assist in the development, validation, and deployment of new vibration test methods and procedures supporting new hardware configurations and production scaling.
  • Analyze test data and investigate off-nominal behavior to identify potential hardware, instrumentation, or test setup issues, partnering with engineering teams to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Ensure test readiness by verifying instrumentation setups, fixturing, and test configurations prior to execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve test reliability, reduce setup time, and increase lab operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and develop accurate documentation and traceability of test configurations, results, and anomalies.
  • Promote a safe working environment while operating high-energy electrodynamic vibration systems and associated equipment.

A day in the life

The Space Simulation Lab is a fast-paced and dynamic environment where no two days look the same. In this role, you will work closely with lab operations and engineering teams to remove production blockers, troubleshoot vibration test systems, and ensure instrumentation and test assets are functioning correctly. You will help improve test processes, support new test development, and sustain high-throughput production testing of satellite hardware. Your work will directly enable reliable test execution while continuously improving the performance and capability of the dynamics test lab.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
