Job Position: Production Worker - 3rd Shift (FT)

Job Description:

Summary:
Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the reinforcement machines. Willing to train the right candidate(s).

Red Oak - Machine Operator.

Essential Functions:
  • Set up machines by doing deck changes (wire and yarn), tube changes, layer stock changes and cutting out finished product on a production reel.
  • Operator will monitor machine as it is running to ensure a quality product.
  • Operator will prioritize job duties based on information obtained from work leader/Value Stream team leader and/or braid set up sheet.
  • Operator will communicate with material handler when needing supplies.
  • Operator will communicate with Maintenance when needed.
  • Operator will monitor the flow of production and check the schedule (via cards or Made to Order) to know what the current run is and what the future runs(s) will be.
  • Operator will follow the process specification when setting up and running hose.

Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions:
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards and procedures and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain production schedules.
  • Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
  • Other duties may be assigned at a later time.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience: Production work preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Good math, reading, writing skills.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Skills/competencies:
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Other skills:
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

Assessment:
  • Employee must pass pre-employment screening.

Organizational Scope:
  • Reports to: Value Stream team lead.
  • Work closely with maintenance to resolve issues with equipment.

Working Conditions:
  • Required PPE: Safety glasses.
  • Hearing protection.
  • Steel toed shoes.
  • Kevlar gloves.
  • Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, carrying, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, lifting overhead, pushing, pulling and grasping are performed on an occasional basis.
  • Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
  • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
