The Production worker is responsible for the safe and efficient manufacturing of food flavors, colors, and related products in accordance with company quality standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role involves weighing raw materials, blending ingredients, operating production equipment, packaging finished products, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately weigh and measure raw materials according to production formulas and batch records.
Blend, mix, and manufacture liquid and powder flavor and color products following approved procedures.
Operate mixers, tanks, pumps, scales, filling machines, and other production equipment safely and efficiently.
Monitor production processes to ensure product quality and consistency.
Complete production records, batch documentation, and inventory transactions accurately.
Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality and report any discrepancies.
Label, package, and prepare finished products for shipment.
Clean and sanitize equipment and production areas according to sanitation procedures.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, food safety, and quality assurance requirements.
Comply with all OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
Assist with inventory control and material handling, including receiving and stocking raw materials.
Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Warehouse, and Production teams.
Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-training activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous manufacturing or food production experience preferred.
Experience in flavor, food ingredient, beverage, or chemical manufacturing is a plus.
Basic math skills and ability to accurately weigh materials.
Ability to read and follow batch records, formulas, and work instructions.
Basic computer and data entry skills are preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators when required.
Comfortable working in environments with food-grade powders, liquids, fragrances, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment
Food manufacturing facility.
Exposure to food ingredients, flavorings, colors, and cleaning chemicals.
Fast-paced production environment with strict sanitation and quality standards.
Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet production schedules.
