Professional Development Specialist in ICU/Telemetry
The Professional Development Specialist is a clinical educator and an integral member of both our Critical Care and Professional Development teams. This role is a masters prepared, clinical expert responsible for the professional development of clinical staff and patient outcomes of our critical care and telemetry patients.
The Professional Development Specialist provides leadership, education, interdisciplinary collaboration, program development, and consultation to promote clinical excellence and quality outcome measures. The qualified candidate must:
• Possess theoretical knowledge of adult education, clinical nursing, and leadership skills • Independently plan, develop, present, and evaluate educational programs, as well as collaborate with the Professional Development team • Facilitate team building and problem solving • Participate in the planning and delivery of the clinical orientation of newly hired staff • Incorporate evidence-based learning into educational activities and practice • Collaborate with nursing leadership and members of the healthcare team when resolving clinical practice issues • Monitor quality measures and implement improvement strategies • Participate in new product evaluation • Function in a highly technical environment (proficient with EMR, IABP, CRRT, Impella, EKOS) • Support and facilitate a Professional Practice Model and Shared Governance structure
We are seeking an engaging, innovative advanced practice educator to join a progressive nursing leadership team. In addition to our newly renovated 19-bed Intensive Care Unit, recent strategic initiatives include Intensivist coverage, traumatologist, and new services.
The Professional Development Specialist reports to the Director of Professional Development and is accountable to the Director of Inpatient Services. Current Massachusetts nursing license required, MSN, or BSN currently enrolled in MSN program meeting all other criteria, BLS, ACLS required, 5+ years of acute care experience, at least 2 years in critical care, experience as clinical educator preferred. CCRN or PCCN preferred.
