    Description

    Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam (LAN), a distinguished civil engineering firm, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Civil Engineer to join our Water District team. As a Professional Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and executing projects related to water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and drainage systems. Your responsibilities will span from initial project concept development to construction phase engineering service support.

    Job Summary

    Professional Engineer with general instruction will independently perform engineering system design during all phases of multiple, simultaneous projects by performing design calculations, specifications, interpreting and preparing reports, applying techniques and procedures, preparing cost estimates, impact studies, permits and designs/deliverable drawings.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Manages and perform system design, including calculations, equipment selection, layout, and drawing preparation.
    • Plan and conduct evaluation and site observation. Review project documents, specifications, and design options; ensure code compliance through meetings and reviews. Make recommendations based on findings.
    • Conduct site investigations and technical research to support design decisions.
    • May mentor, lead or supervise staff; assign tasks and checks work for accuracy.
    • Apply standard engineering practices and software tools to produce high-quality deliverables.
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of relevant codes and design standards.
    • Build and develop internal and external relationships
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Required Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    • Professional Engineer License (PE)
    • 4+ years' experience

    Preferred Education & Experience

    • Solid command of core engineering principles with the ability to apply them to real-world, multidisciplinary projects.
    • Proficient in problem-solving
    • Experienced with industry-standard software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
    • Competent in data interpretation and statistical analysis
    • Working knowledge of project management fundamentals
    • Demonstrate critical thinking and sound engineering judgement
    • Detail-oriented and quality focused
    • Effective communicator
