Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)

Position Summary:

Coordinates with Surveyors and Engineers to provide construction layout, staking and GPS machine control support to our sitework operations teams and technicians. We are offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with an outstanding benefits package.

Essential Duties:

• Promote and enforce JWC principles – God, Family, Empathy, Pride, Honor, Integrity, Safety, Accountability, Quality and Teamwork.
• Conduct land surveys, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys as needed.
• Utilize advanced surveying instruments and methodologies to collect accurate field data.
• Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and as-built documentation for project records.
• Coordinate the setup and calibration of machine control systems on construction equipment.
• Ensure the seamless integration of GPS-guided machinery for precision grading and earthmoving.
• Provide technical support for GPS software and equipment and manage the acquisition, maintenance, and repair of specialized industry equipment and software.
• Apply technical knowledge and research to keep company on the cutting edge of new software and technical equipment utilized in the construction GPS/LPS, Survey and Machine Control applications.
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy of survey data.
• Conduct regular audits of geospatial and survey processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Reading, interpreting, and executing site plan accuracy from design through GPS integration.
• Participate in company preconstruction, planning, scheduling, personnel, and weekly on-site meetings.
• Will be required to perform job requirements with limited supervision.
• General housekeeping, site cleanliness and maintenance checks of tech equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a weekly basis or as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ Years of experience in construction layout and GPS machine control including industry related software and specialized equipment.
• Proficient with Topcon surveying devices and machine controls and Surveying Equipment and practices.
• Capable of interpreting and gathering information from construction software, specifications, plans, and details involved with various types of civil construction; including, commercial, residential, and industrial sitework and utility plans. .
• Experience in construction related methods and practices used to develop commercial, residential, and industrial sites.
• SC Licensed PLS.
• Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
• Must have a Valid Driver’s License and provide 3-year motor vehicle record which meets the minimum operating standards in accordance with JWC vehicle operation policy.
• Flexible attendance and availability to include overtime and possible weekends.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

The job is usually performed outdoors on multiple job sites with some office work. Ability to communicate orally with clients, candidates, management, and coworkers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Requires good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copier/scanners). No heavy lifting is expected; exertion of up to 30 lbs. of force (e.g., tablet, laptop, computers, office supplies) may occasionally be required. Work hours are Monday – Thursday 7 am to 5 pm and Friday 7 am to 3 pm.
