Professional Staff Nurse, BSN

Hours: 3 - 12 Hour Shifts per week. Rotating shifts including days/nights weekends & holidays

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for setting care standards and ensuring high-quality nursing care. They manage patient care for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment and collaborating with the care team. This role involves leadership, partnership, and supervision, while maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Use the nursing process within Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment, set care goals, and address patients' clinical, social, and emotional needs.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhancing patient satisfaction and care.
• Apply evidence-based practices to improve clinical care and patient outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with the care team and document patient information clearly.
• Build productive relationships with colleagues and patients, promoting teamwork, accountability, and work-life balance.
• Identify safety hazards and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Take responsibility for professional development, engage in unit-based goal setting, and support care team needs.

• Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for patients.
• Understand growth and development principles and be able to assess and address patients' age-specific needs.
• Previous Vascular Access experience preferred
• Previous Nursing experience preferred.
• BSN strongly preferred.
• Strong relationship-building skills with staff, physicians, and patients are essential.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities, and use critical thinking for patient care decisions.
• Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning is necessary.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• UPMC approved national certification preferred.
• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.
• Basic Life Support (BLS OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR
• Registered Nurse (RN OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP. RN license must be issued either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
