Overview:
This person will provide individualized and small group writing support to students, assist students with supplemental learning materials, act as resource person for other tutors, and act as contact person between Tutoring Services and appropriate faculty members. This is an on-site position.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree appropriate to subject area being tutored. Required
Bachelor's Degree with graduate credits in Learning Disabilities, Basic Skill Development, or related discipline. Preferred
EXPERIENCE
One (1) or more years teaching or tutoring experience. Required
One (1) or more years experience with academically disadvantaged students. Preferred
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Capacity for ongoing professional growth in academic content areas, learning theory, and student success strategies. Required
Ability to tutor in subject area for which hired. Required
Effective oral and written communication skills. Required
Functional ability with or aptitude to learn microcomputer functions and software tools necessary to function in a face-to-face and remote tutoring environment. Preferred
Ability to work independently. Preferred
Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small group tutoring for students adapting strategies to support diverse learning needs.
Maintain complete and accurate tutoring services utilization records.
Monitor Writing and/or Tutoring Center in the absence of the Manager of Tutoring.
Act as contact person with appropriate faculty relative to tutoring services.
Develop and/or update supplemental learning resources in areas related to academic expertise.
Assist the Manager with tutor orientations and training.
Identify academic challenges as they surface and consult with the Manager, Hudock Center, or other appropriate staff.
Develop working knowledge of video conferencing software, related educational software, and materials needed to provide effective online and face-to-face tutoring services.
Design and facilitate workshops, presentations, and instructional sessions that support student learning and academic success, both within the department and in collaboration with faculty and staff across campus.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Manager with promoting the availability of tutoring services to students and faculty.
Assist Manager with data collection for reports and evaluations.
Attend department staff meetings and any related in-service activities.

Pay Transparency:
Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the hourly range is $18.46 - $21.54.
