Professional Tutor/Mentor

Salary: $20.00 per hour

I. Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Tutor/Mentor will provide academic

and social support for participants in the Trio program.

II. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Academic Assistance in core subjects such as Writing, Math and Science courses

Maintain service documentation for each student session/interaction

Monitor academic progress via Learning platforms

Communicate with patience with an understanding of varied learning styles

Coach students toward completing assignments/instill motivation

Continually learn updated course content by communicating with faculty

Present workshops related to Student Development (Study Skills, Overcoming Obstacles)

Participate in program recruitment activities and attend program events

Create flyers for the promotion of tutoring, workshops, etc.

Assist with office/area organization and tasks

Maintain confidentiality at all times

III. Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in any field

Experience teaching or tutoring high school or college students

Ability to communicate effectively and exhibit great customer service

Ability to break down information for all levels of learning

Working knowledge of technology (computer systems, software, databases, AI)
