This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Professional Tutor - Science Academic Success Center who will be all-in on our mission and who provides high-quality academic support to students through individual and small-group tutoring in science disciplines. Tutoring services are designed to assist students proactively or remedially by reinforcing course concepts, strengthening study skills, and promoting academic confidence and success.
The mission of the Academic Success Centers (ASC) is to provide the AC student with academic support and learning strategies through services, resources and collaborations with faculty that allow students to become engaged, independent and successful learners.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree with a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in science.
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Successful completion of college-level science courses (including Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Microbiology) with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred: Previous tutoring or teaching experience in a high school, college, or similar educational setting.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 10 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel between offices and campus locations and occasionally lift, carry, push, or move materials and office supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.
Working Conditions: This is a part-time position scheduled for a maximum of nineteen (19) hours per week.
Work Environment: This position operates primarily in an academic tutoring and professional office environment. The position routinely uses computers, telephones, printers, copiers, and other standard office equipment while working closely with students, faculty, and staff.
