The Department of Psychology at The Citadel invites applications for a 9-month, full-time (30 hours per week) non-tenure track Professor of Practice in Clinical or Counseling Psychology to begin in August 2026. The position will primarily teach graduate courses in our robust Clinical-Counseling MA program that is accredited by the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) and trains Licensed Professional Counselors to work in a variety of settings.

Teaching load will be 2-2 with the preference of at least 1 summer course for additional pay as the graduate program is year-round. This position will also serve as the Field Placement Coordinator for the graduate program as well as contribute to other supportive roles, including advising graduate students.

Minimum requirements include a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or counselor education, licensed or license-eligible in SC, and previous administrative, supervision, training, and/or teaching experience.

Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 years of direct clinical/counseling experience working with a diverse range of populations, settings, and mental health conditions across the lifespan; knowledge of community mental health policy and practice; and previous experience supervising clinical work, working on a multi-disciplinary team, and teaching in higher education. Previous administrative experience is preferred.

In addition, we seek candidates who fit with our philosophy of training students in the use of empirically-supported treatments. Consistent with the Professor of Practice title, candidates would be encouraged and supported in engaging in active practice with clients.
