Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Prognostics Research Engineer for a Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate with expertise in data science, machine learning, and physics-based modeling to develop advanced predictive health solutions for vehicle systems.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $42/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Prognostics Research Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deploy prognostic algorithms to estimate Remaining Useful Life (RUL) and predict potential failures in vehicle subsystems across EV and ICE platforms.

  • Design and implement Physics-Informed Machine Learning (PIML) models by combining physics-based simulations with advanced machine learning techniques.

  • Analyze large-scale vehicle telemetry data using Python, SQL, and cloud-based platforms to identify degradation patterns and optimize predictive models.

  • Develop signal processing and multi-sensor fault detection frameworks to monitor vehicle health, detect anomalies, and improve system reliability.

  • Translate predictive models into optimized embedded C code for deployment on vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) and production systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and subject matter experts to validate algorithms through simulation, HIL testing, and real-world vehicle applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field; PhD preferred.

  • 4+ years of experience in prognostics, data science, machine learning, predictive analytics, or vehicle systems modeling.

  • Strong expertise in Python, SQL, MATLAB/Simulink, statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and physics-based modeling for predictive health and prognostics applications.

  • Experience developing prognostics and fault detection algorithms, processing large-scale vehicle data, and deploying models in embedded environments using C programming and cloud platforms such as GCP.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
