Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Advisor I supports participant success by providing guidance, resources, and

individualized support that promote engagement, progression, and achievement of program

goals. The position serves as a resource and advocate, helping participants navigate available

opportunities, overcome barriers, and connect with services that support their development and

success. Through advising, outreach, and progress monitoring, the role contributes to positive

participant outcomes and the overall effectiveness of the program.

DUTIES:

  • Provides guidance, advising, and individualized support to participants regarding program

requirements, opportunities, services, and pathways that support achievement of educational,

career, or program goals.

  • Assists prospective, new, and continuing participants in understanding available resources,

program expectations, eligibility requirements, and options for successful participation and

completion.

  • Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with participants through regular

communication, coaching, and follow-up to encourage engagement, persistence, and

successful outcomes.

  • Coordinates and delivers advising sessions, workshops, presentations, orientations, and

informational programs that promote participant development, progression, and achievement

of program objectives.

  • Identifies participant needs and connects individuals with appropriate academic, career,

financial, wellness, tutoring, counseling, or other support services and resources.

  • Participates in outreach, recruitment, and retention activities designed to increase awareness

of program offerings and expand participation among eligible populations.

  • Monitors participant progress, maintains case records and documentation, tracks outcomes,

and prepares reports to support program assessment, compliance, and continuous

improvement efforts.

  • Collaborates with educational institutions, community organizations, employers, faculty, staff,

and other stakeholders to support participant success and advance program goals.

  • Maintains accurate participant records, communications, and documentation in accordance

with program, organizational, and regulatory requirements.

  • Performs participant support activities and other program-specific advising, coaching,

outreach, and case management functions necessary to achieve the unique goals and

objectives of the assigned program.

MARGINAL DUTIES:

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor''s degree.

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of related job experience.

License/Certification: None required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working for or collaborating with a grant-funded program is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the college preparation, admissions, and transition processes,

and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices

  • Knowledge of the socioeconomic and educational barriers faced by low

income, first generation youth

  • Knowledge of program delivery modules

Skills:

  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to provide academic advising
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and

constituencies in a diverse university community.

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Location:

  • Works in an office environment

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which

does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and

has minimal exposure to physical risks

  • Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness,

and the ability to identify and distinguish colors

  • Must have the ability to move items of up to 50lbs
