Location: Pio Decimo Center-John Valenzuela Youth Center, part-time, 30
hours
The Program Aide assists with the implementation of preplanned scheduled
activities program and special events, (i.e. arts, crafts, pool, table
games, cooking classes, homework and field trips) for the after school
and evening program at John Valenzuela Youth Center.Position may from
time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance.May
perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functionsof the Program Aide:
- Assists with educational and recreational activities, such as
outdoor/indoor games, computer tutoring, and homework as part of the
daily schedule
- Assists with recruitment, registration, intake and follow up
services for youth participants or potential participants
- Provide supervision of youth at all times, ensuring a safe,
healthful environment
- Observes center and program regulations
- Assists with gathering data for reports and grants related to the
program
- Effectively communicates with diverse cultural and ethnic groups,
including individuals with disabilities
Minimum Qualificationsof the Program Aide:
Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in
order to meet minimum requirements of the position, and will be
considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.
- High School / GED
- 6 months of paid, internship or volunteer experience working with
children ages 5-18
- Ability to organize activities for children ages 5-18
- Good communication skills using appropriate style, grammar and tone
- Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- TB skin test and drug screening
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
Desired Qualifications of the Program Aide:
- Associates in social service or related field
- Additional experience working with youth in an after-school program
- Bilingual, English / Spanish verbal
- Experience with programs serving high-risk youth
