Program Aide Paraeducator Job Coach

Title: ACCESS Transition Program Program Aide Paraeducator

Work Year: 10-Month, Part Time

Department: Student Support Services

FLSA Status: Represented, Non-Exempt

Reports To: Special Education Teacher / Program Supervisor

Hours: 9:45 2:15pm

Hourly Rate: $19.37 pending union negotiations

Position Overview:

The ACCESS Transition Program Aide Paraeducator provides administrative, organizational, and program support to the transition program serving students with disabilities. This role is designed to support efficient program operations and alleviate administrative responsibilities, allowing instructional staff to focus on teaching, program development, and community-based learning. The Program Aide supports scheduling, transportation coordination, data management, and student programming, while also assisting as a job coach or classroom paraprofessional as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Student and Instructional Support

  • Serve as a job coach or classroom paraeducator as needed based on daily program needs.
  • Support students in community-based work experiences and transition activities.
  • Assist in reinforcing job skills, independence, and appropriate workplace behaviors.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Maintain ongoing communication with program staff, job coaches, transportation providers, and community partners.
  • Support coordination between school-based and community-based program components.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student and program information.

Data Collection and Program Support

  • Perform data collection in the community and classroom settings.
  • Assist with general program organization and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher or program supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree, OR at least 60 college credits, OR
  • High school diploma with successful completion of the ParaPathways (formerly ParaPro) Assessment required
  • Experience working with students with disabilities or in a school setting preferred.
  • Experience with community-based or vocational programs preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage changing schedules and priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community partners.
  • Basic proficiency in Google applications and data entry tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Physical and Cognitive Demands:

Work in this classification includes both classroom and community-based environments. The position requires frequent movement, including standing, walking, and assisting students in various settings. The employee may be required to lift and assist students and materials. Duties require attention to detail, multitasking, and the ability to respond to dynamic situations.
