The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction.  Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy’s top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces.  Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA’s decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition. #MC

Responsibilities:

The Phase 2 Mission Systems Action Officer will provide support to the NAVSEA AUKUS I&A Program Office. Responsibilities will include strategic planning and coordination of program-wide execution activities, correspondence management, supporting development of integrated plans, event/travel coordination, supporting fleet and supporting establishment (including inter-agency) integration with the AUKUS program, and facilitating integrated schedule and risk analysis.

 

This position is located at SPA HQ in Alexandria, VA but requires frequent travel to the Washington Navy Yard (WNYD) in Washington, DC. There is some opportunity for up to ~15% travel to partner and industry stakeholder locations.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 5+ years of government or military related experience.
• Service onboard a US nuclear-powered warship, experience working in NAVSEA Team Submarine, or similar experience.
• Ability to work on-site at SPA HQ in Alexandria, VA up to full time with frequent local travel to the WNYD based upon the needs of the client.  Remote work up to 40% will occasionally be available.
• Current DoD SECRET clearance.

Desired:

• Experience with US Navy submarine operations and maintenance.
• Experience with in-service support to nuclear powered Warships.
• Experience supporting a NAVSEA acquisition program office. Experience/knowledge of Navy acquisition program office organizations and processes.
• Experience working with international partners or with foreign military sales.
