What You Will Do:

As a Program Analyst focused on Data and Analytics, you will contribute to the Department of State (DoS) Political‑Military Affairs Bureau’s analytical mission by developing dashboards, visualizations, and executive‑level reporting products that translate complex program and performance information into actionable insights. Your work will involve analyzing trends in programmatic, operational, and policy‑related data; preparing concise analytical narratives; and ensuring that findings are accessible and aligned to leadership priorities. You will coordinate with program managers, subject‑matter experts, and data stewards to refine requirements, validate metrics, and maintain data quality. Additionally, you will play a key role in advancing data literacy and promoting analytic best practices across the organization by supporting training, documentation, and guidance for stakeholders working with data products.

What You Will Need:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, public policy, international affairs, or a related discipline required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in data analysis, visualization, or program evaluation, preferably with federal agencies.

  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI, Excel, and other data analysis or visualization platforms; familiarity with SQL preferred.

  • Experience in translating program and performance data into clear analytical products, dashboards, and executive-level reporting.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Professional certifications or formal training in data analytics or visualization (e.g., Power BI or Tableau) desirable.

  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Prior experience creating stakeholder training, user guides, or enablement materials to support data literacy and adoption of analytic tools.

  • Background supporting cross‑functional teams or interagency coordination, especially in environments where policy, operations, and data intersect.

The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
